We work independently and in association with a range of partner organisations to improve social and environmental performance on tea estates.
Monitoring & Certification
Our knowledge of the tea sector and sustainability issues comes from 13 years of running monitoring programmes on tea estates. Our work includes conducting independent audits, and helping estates to address problem areas.
We also help producers to achieve certification from Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Utz Certified.

Producer Support
To help producers improve their working practices and raise their performance we have devised training and improvement programmes around 5 key areas. These address commonly found problems.
Some of this training is aimed at management, making sure they understand their social and environmental obligations, such as the fair treatment of workers. Other workshops focus on the workers themselves.
Strategic Sustainability
There are a number of global issues such as climate change that threaten the sustainability of the industry. We’re working on a number of projects that are helping to secure workers’ livelihoods from tea production in the long-term.
Examples of our major strategic sustainability projects include:
- Improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions Assam, India
- Mapping climate change and developing adaption strategies, Kenya
