Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) is pleased to announce that Canton Tea has joined the Partnership. Canton Tea, which was inspired by Jennifer Wood’s love for fine Chinese teas, was founded in 2007. Over the years Canton Tea has developed partnerships with some of the best, most experienced artisans and tea professionals, and has grown to become one of the UK’s top specialist tea companies now supplying over 120 teas. Canton buy their teas seasonally direct from source to ensure they are authentic, fresh, and full of flavour.
Canton Tea supply Five Star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, independent cafes, high-end delis, John Lewis Food Halls, Harrods, and thousands of discerning customers across the globe. While the company has expanded it still remains true to its original principle of sourcing teas direct from small, family-run farms where the teas are grown and processed today, just as they have been for thousands of years. Canton prides itself on building relationships with producers and has a trusted local buying partner.
“We’re pleased to welcome a leading specialist tea company to ETP. The news highlights how the tea sustainability work we’re involved with is appealing to tea companies of all sizes,” Sarah Roberts, Executive Director ETP.
“We’re delighted to be a member of the ETP. It formally endorses our values and how we source our teas – as well as providing instant reassurance for new customers. We strongly support ETP’s policies and activities on climate change and their work with smallholders and we’re looking forward to engaging with the ETP and their members on key social and environmental issues in all tea-producing regions.” Jennifer Wood, Founder/Director Canton Tea Co.
