New collaboration on climate change mitigation in the tea sector

Ethical Tea Partnership is pleased to announce the expansion of our climate change activities in Africa. In a new piece of work commissioned by the International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint organization of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, ETP will be teaming up with Rainforest Alliance and the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation to develop resources to support Kenyan tea farmers address climate change mitigation. This work will directly build on ETP’s existing climate change adaptation project that is being delivered in partnership with GIZ, and which is supporting farmers to adapt to climate change.

As Rachel Cracknell, ETP’s Climate Change Manager explained, “we are tremendously excited by the opportunity to ensure that a consistent, integrated and streamlined approach is developed to support small-scale producers address the challenges ahead. We also want to make sure that the future way in which the standards bodies address climate change is aligned and consistent.”
