One of Germany’s oldest tea companies, J.T. Ronnefeldt, has taken a positive step and joined the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP). The company, which was founded in Frankfurt 190 years ago by Johann Tobias Ronnefeldt, specialises in the trade and sale of high-quality teas.
Ronnefeldt teas are produced exclusively using orthodox methods in order to meet the quality standards of the company, which currently supplies many of the world’s top class hotels and restaurants and the specialised premium retail. The family-owned business has also created many educational tea-training programs that enable customers to acquire an essential knowledge of tea service and tea culture.
Sarah Roberts, Executive Director of ETP comments: “It’s great news that we welcome a fourth member from Germany to the ETP in less than 18 months. Ronnefeldt’s focus on quality and service to demanding and discerning customers in the service industry will be an asset to our organisation. Their membership demonstrates how business customers and consumers alike are increasingly concerned with provenance and ethical supply.”
Jan-Berend Holzapfel, Proprietor of J.T. Ronnefeldt says, “When it comes to quality standards and ethical values it’s important to speak with one voice if change is to happen. It was therefore important for Ronnefeldt to join the ETP as they’re unifying the industry to improve tea sustainability and the livelihoods of those that depend on tea production for a living.
“As a family company, we work shoulder to shoulder with local tea garden owners who are conscious of their social responsibility. After all, we know that only employees who share our passionate commitment to tea can produce the highest quality tea for us.
“We hope to share our knowledge, standards, and values with others in the tea industry through the ETP.”
