Adolescent Girls Groups (AGGs)

Girls in tea communities are vulnerable to a range of child protection issues from abuse, forced marriage, leaving education early, and trafficking. Through the ETP-UNICEF Partnership Programme, which started in 2014, Adolescent Girls Groups have been set up on more than 100 communities in Assam. These groups act as a forum for young girls to come together and discuss issues affecting them whilst gaining the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe from harm and help lead positive change in their communities.  As a result of the ETP-UNICEF Partnership Programme, 35,000 girls have already been reached, given a voice and the confidence they need to shape a better future for themselves and their communities.
