The Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) is a not for profit membership organisation that exists to improve tea sustainability, the lives and livelihoods of tea workers and smallholder farmers, and the environment in which tea is produced.
To achieve our vision of a thriving tea industry that is socially just and environmentally sustainable we focus our work on four key areas:
We have expert local staff working on the ground in Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, China, India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, and a London-based team (see map below). We’re funded by membership subscriptions, project fees, and by accessing public funding and grants. This means the vast majority of our work is free to producers and farmers.
We have more than 40 international members. They range from large international brands/retailers to small independent labels. Together they account for more than 50 brands in more than 100 countries. Membership is open to any company involved in the sourcing, trading, or packing of tea, and retailers.
We help producers and smallholder farmers raise their performance against international social and environmental standards, and address key issues holding back tea sustainability in the main tea producing regions around the world.
